School Leavers Employment Supports (SLES) is a program designed to help young people transition from school to employment. It provides support through job readiness training, skills development, and work experience opportunities. The goal is to equip school leavers with the confidence and capabilities needed to enter the workforce successfully.
Eligibility for SLES funding is typically for school leavers with a disability who are NDIS participants. The program is aimed at individuals who require additional support to transition from school to work, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and training.
SLES (School Leavers Employment Supports) focuses on preparing young people, particularly those with disabilities, for their first steps into employment. DES (Disability Employment Services), on the other hand, provides ongoing support for people with disabilities who are already in the workforce or looking for work. While SLES is about building skills, DES focuses on finding and maintaining employment.
SLES is generally available for young people who have recently completed their final year of school. The typical age range for participants is between 16 and 22 years old, although this can vary depending on individual circumstances and eligibility requirements.
The purpose of SLES is to support school leavers in their transition from education to employment.
